Vanderbilt tops Alabama 7-5, wins SEC East

The team is still in search for a right-handed reliever they can trust late in games, and tonight Kyle Wright answered the call with a two shutout innings and a save in a 7-5 victory over Alabama.

After getting mixed results from starter Phil Pfeifer and Jordan Sheffield, the freshman right hander pitched beyond his years, retiring all six batters he faced, picking up three strikeouts along the way.

With the win, Vanderbilt clinched the SEC East and at least the second seed in next week’s SEC Tournament. If Vanderbilt wins and LSU loses to South Carolina tomorrow, the Commodores will get the top overall seed.
