The Commodores have a quality lineup, but they have been working hard to replace shortstop Vince Conde. Conde won a Gold Glove Award as the nation’s top defensive shortstop and hit .284/.382/.379. He finished second on the team with 50 RBIs and was crucial part of Vanderbilt’s national championship team. Conde began his career with the Commodores as a third baseman before injuries to shortstop Dansby Swanson forced Conde to change to shortstop in 2013. Conde’s play at short was so strong that Swanson moved to second base in 2014. Swanson was named the Most Outstanding Player of the 2014 College World Series and the 2014 All-Tournament team after hitting .
