Parker was inner-tubing with friends at the Reservoir when a large wave hit the tube and threw both Parker and his friend into the water. Parker was not wearing a life vest and did not resurface, prompting a call to 911.
Parker played for Vanderbilt for three seasons and started 26 games during the 2013-14 season.
