Brandon Vanderburg and Cory Batey, formerly football players for Vanderbilt charged with rape, have been granted a mistrial Tuesday afternoon, according to The Tennessean.

Nashville Criminal Court Judge Monte Wilkins was obligated to give a mistrial to the former players due to a jury serving not admitting he had been the victim of a statutory rape case a decade and a half ago.

The defense attorneys will show up to court to ask for bonds to be upheld for the two men who were out on bail waiting on the first trial. the prosecutors will look for a new trial date.
