Missouri was one and done in the 2017 NFL draft. The seventh and final round ended Saturday without any MU players selected after defensive end Charles Harris was a first-round pick Thursday by Miami.
It’s the first time since 2012 that Missouri only landed one player in the draft. That year, tight end Michael Egnew was a third-round selection, also by the Dolphins.
Several former Mizzou players hoped to hear their name called during Saturday’s portion of the draft, which included the final four rounds, but will instead have to settle for free agent contracts. Cornerbacks Aarion Penton and John Gibson, linebackers Michael Scherer and Donavin Newsom, defensive linemen Josh Augusta and Rickey Hatley and tight end Sean Culkin could have deals in place by Saturday night or invitations to rookie minicamps.
