Pahlett dethrones nationally-ranked player Thursday

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Charlotte junior Victoria Pahlett used three sets and a come-from-behind triumph to knock off the lone Winthrop nationally-ranked singles player but the 49ers were unable to overcome the No. 66-ranked Eagles, dropping a 5-2 decision at the Halton-Wagner Tennis Complex Thursday afternoon.

Pahlett fell in her first set before rallying in the next two to claim a 2-6, 6-4, 7-5 triumph over No. 105 Alice Garcia in the No. 2 contest.

“Today was the kind of match where the effort and heart don’t show in the end result,” head coach Michaela Gorman said.
